A funny coincidence
Years ago, Renee was stationed in a remote garrison in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army and the mobile dental clinic visited her base. The dental officer who did Renee’s check-up noted how straight her teeth were and asked where she was from.
”When I told him I was from Salem, Oregon, and that Dr. Terry had been my orthodontist, he replied ‘That’s my father!’ Running into Dr. John abroad was one of those weird small world things.”
Favorite vice for her teeth
Anything chewy—especially caramels. “I can feel them push my gums down,” says Renee. (Caution: Dr. John also loves caramel, especially caramel apples. He wants to remind you, however, that caramel wreaks havoc on your braces. “No can do” ‘til the braces are off.)
Note from Dr. John
I did more that 75 dental exams that day, and the reason I asked Renee about her teeth was because I recognized her accent! She sounded like home. We Oregonians don’t think we have an accent, but I heard it in Renee’s voice. Like she says, sometimes it’s a small world.
